It concentrates protection on the vital organs. Because the panel is identical front and back, it also protects where the driver seat alone stops nothing: from behind.

Plainly statedNIJ IIIA is a protection level against handgun ammunition. The VEP LITE does not protect against rifle ammunition and only protects the area it covers.
